About the Seminar
The Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB) is organising its 4th Social Work Supervision Seminar, to be held virtually, on 8 and 9 July 2021. The theme of the Seminar is “Riding the Waves and Rethinking Social Work Supervision”.
Gain insightful information on Social Work Supervision from both local and international speakers like Prof Lambert K Engelbrecht and Prof Peter Hawkins on the topics of ‘Rethinking Supervision’ and ‘The Future of Social Work Supervision’. In addition, learn from our Social Work counterparts from Ireland, Taiwan and USA on their sharing of re-thinking supervision during COVID-19 in their social work practice

About the Organiser
The Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB) is appointed by the Ministry of Social and Family Development. It oversees the Singapore Social Work Accreditation System, which is administered by the Accreditation Secretariat of the Singapore Association of Social Workers.
The objectives of the Board include:

Review the accreditation framework and the continual professional education guidelines whenever necessary

Handle appeals / disciplinary / complex cases for accreditation and renewal in a fair and honourable manner and observe the confidentiality of information obtained during the course of discharging SWAAB duties

Review the mechanisms needed to maintain the professional practice of social workers

Provide thought and professional leadership on the development of social work and its professionals in Singapore, including policies, professionalisation, training and development and standards of practice

Provide consultations and inputs to Government on issues affecting the profession and initiatives targeted at the professionalisation of social workers and social work associates
