About the Event

Organised by the Singapore Association of Social Workers and supported by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., the annual Outstanding Social Worker Award (OSWA) is presented at the Istana by the President of the Republic of Singapore.

A Tea Reception will be held after the Award Ceremony.

What is OSWA & PSWA?

The Outstanding Social Worker Award (OSWA) is the highest award to Social Workers conferred by the President of the Republic of Singapore. It aims to recognise the outstanding contributions made by dedicated Social Workers in Singapore. The award acknowledges their passion and professional contributions to the improvement of the social service and healthcare sectors.

The Promising Social Worker Award (PSWA) was introduced in 2008. It accords recognition to Social Workers who are newer in the field but have nonetheless made a difference in the lives of their clients as well as the community.

Eligibility &
Selection Criteria

  • A recognised Bachelor's Degree or Graduate Diploma in Social Work;

  • More than 8 years of post-qualification social work experience for OSWA, and between 3 and 8 years of post-qualification social work experience for PSWA;

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident;

  • Registered Social Worker accredited by the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB); and

  • Currently working in the community or healthcare sector, including the management, academic and research domains.

OSWA Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated commendable or outstanding service to his/ her clients and the community, and made valuable contributions to the profession

  • Demonstrated innovative and creative abilities in his/ her work

  • Been actively involved in outreach and advocacy

  • Engaged in continual professional development and demonstrated a learning spirit

  • Shown strong leadership qualities

  • Made impactful and lasting contributions to the profession

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and ability to examine issues and ideas

  • Shown to have a macro-micro perspective of trends and issues in the social service sector

PSWA Selection Criteria

  • Achieved significant accomplishments or initiated innovative projects that have impacted clients and community

  • Engaged in continual professional development and demonstrated a learning spirit

  • Shown a strong potential for leadership development through his/her conduct and work

Venue

Important Information About the Venue
​

Due to limited capacity, not all registrations will be accepted. All registrations will require security clearance.

 

The successful registrant will receive a confirmation email with an E-Invitation Card before the event. The registrant must present the E-Invitation Card and his/her NRIC for admission.

 

All participants including those who come in private cars must go through security checks at the main gate. Children under the age of 12 will not be admitted.

Questions

1. How do I know if I am confirmed a seat for the ceremony?

Successful registrants will receive a confirmation email with an E-Invitation Card by 10 November 2023.

2. What time should I arrive for the event?

​​

Registrations opens from 2.00pm on 17 November 2023 at the Istana Main Gate on Orchard Road. Registrations will close strictly at 3:00pm for the ceremony to commence on time.

3. What should I bring to the event?

​​

An email with an E-Invitation Card will be sent to successful registrants by 10 November 2023. Please present your E-Invitation Card and NRIC for registration. If you are allocated a parking space, please print out the car park label attached and place it clearly on the top right-hand side of your windscreen (above the IU).

​

4. What is the dress code?

​​

Office attire or smart casual. Please note that visitors in shorts, bermudas, singlets, tank tops, sleeveless, camisoles, slippers, or flip-flops will not be admitted.

​

5. How do I get to the Banquet Hall from the Main Gate/Car Park?

​​

There will be shuttle services operating between the Main Gate and the Banquet Hall, as well as between the Villa Car Park and the Banquet Hall.
